Welcome to the latest edition of the OMNI Real Estate Report!

We expect 2015 to be a huge year for buyers. A lot of people who had short sales and  foreclosures as a result of the crash will re-enter the market this year. Additionally, we think this is the year millennials will enter the market in big numbers. If you're trying to buy a home in the next 12 months, you need to be prepared to compete in a very different market.

To help you, we thought we would share some advice from a completely unbiased source, the Motley Fool. Here are their 8 critical steps to make your home purchase a success:
  1. Work with a real estate expert: When buying, choose a full-time agent who is knowledgeable about the market and is a skilled negotiator so your interests are protected.
  2. Get pre-approved and work with a solid lender: A seasoned professional knows where to send you so that you'll be properly taken care of. Working with a lender who has seen it all will ensure that your loan will close on time, and with little hassle.
  3. Limit your expenditures: Your lender will continually check your credit history until closing. If you make a big purchase, it can throw the whole process out of whack. Plan a budget and stick to it.
  4. Communicate with your real estate professional: Ask a lot of questions and stay in close touch with everyone involved in the transaction if you want to avoid surprises.
  5. Be open and honest: If you have credit issues or job troubles, make sure to disclose that to your real estate agent and lender so we can take care of problems in the beginning.
  6. Let your agent negotiate: If you select the right agent, they will negotiate the best possible deal on your behalf. If you want to accomplish your buying goals, work with someone who has negotiated thousands of times and has the experience to close the deal in your favor.
  7. Time matters: If you have a request from your lender, title, or real estate agent for a piece of paperwork, deliver it as fast as you can. Delays can sometimes lead to missing deadlines, which can lead to missing out on the home you want.
  8. The work is worth it: Remember, at the end of the day, all the work is worth it. Once you have the keys to your new home in your hand, you won't have second thoughts.
If you have any specific questions about what you can do to make the home buying process a success, don't hesitate to give us a call or shoot us an email. We would love to help you accomplish your real estate goals!
